Self Care, Survival and Vices - The Elektrik Cave / Gathering - Music and Mental Health

Music can be heavily taxing on the mental state of a musician, Sally-Ann Gross conducted the biggest know study into the mental health of musicians at the University of Westminster, and the research has highlighted some major concerns.

Often when we think of our favourite song, or our favourite moment we had dancing at a festival or at a party, we completely indulge in our sensations. We feel good. We dance. We laugh. Endorphins are high. Rarely do we ever consider the health of the musicians we love. On Worldwide FM I brought together Help Musicians UK, Sally Ann-Gross, Andrea Philips (And Is Phi), Louis VI and Ben Hayes. We spoke about some of the issues musicians are facing, and how they look after themselves. Throughout the show I also played audio clips I've collected from friends of mine working in music.

Thank you to Andrea Philips (And Is Phi), Louis VI and Ben Hayes, Roselien, Simbad and Mark de Clive-Lowe for sharing your experiences on the platform so honestly.
